Monopoly Has Facebook Users Vote on a New Game Piece

The Monopoly game we knew as little kids will no longer the same; or at least one of the pieces won’t. Since the game was made in 1935, around 500 million people have played Monopoly, partly due to the fact that it is made in 26 different languages. Hasbro has taken to Monopoly’s Facebook page to have users vote on which game piece to have “pass go” and which piece to save with a “get out of jail free card”. Head over to their Facebook page, “Save Your Token” and cast your own vote! I was happy to see that the scottie dog token has 34 percent of the votes, but unfortunately the lovers of the wheel barrel and the iron aren’t doing as well with only 5 and 3 percent of the votes.

The new tokens to chose from include a robot (my personal favorite), a cat, diamond ring, guitar, and a helicopter. There’s a love affair with the token that each player has settled on over time,” Philip Orbanes, a Monopoly expert, told USA Today. “It’s very seldom that you see a player not care about what token represents them on the game board.” Which one will you vote for? All fans have until February 6 to vote, and can vote once per day.

Luckily for fans, they will be releasing a “Golden Token” Monopoly set exclusively at Target in February, which will contain all of the original game tokens.

Cast your vote below on which game piece needs to be saved!
