While some people had dreams about it and some feared it, the day has finally come: hashtags have made their way to Facebook.

Hashtags are a way to group your post, picture, etc., into a category. For example, if you took a picture on Instagram of your backyard, you may hashtag: #nature #backyard #sandiego etc. Facebook not having hashtags got on a lot of people’s nerves when a user would use hashtags on Instagram or Twitter that linked to their Facebook account. Some people still chose to use them in their Facebook updates, which I never quite understood.

Facebook wants to make it easier for users to find content they are interested in, and hashtags that actually work is the perfect way to do it. According to Facebook, many people already use hashtags in their posts, so they might as well be functioning.

What do you think of this new feature?
