Arianna Huffington is the president, chair, and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group. The Huffington Post is an online news and blog website, which she launched in 2005. While at first it was not taken too seriously, not it is one of the most read, lined to, and cited media on the Internet. In 2012 it won a Pulitzer Prize for national reporting.
She is on the Forbes Most Powerful Women list, and is also an author of thirteen books and a nationally syndicated columnist. In 2006 and 2011, she was named in the Time 100, which is the magazine’s top 100 influential people list. Arianna Huffington is constantly coming up with new ideas to improve the site. Spanish and Italian versions of the site came out this year, and she’s released one of the first iPad only digital magazines, Huffington.
She has stated that, “Our current obsession with creativity is the result of our continued striving for immortality in an era when most people no longer believe in an after-life.”
Arianna Huffington graduated from Cambridge University, and has a Masters of Arts in economics from Girton College. She serves on many different boards including EL PAÍS, PRISA, the Committee to Protect Journalists, and the Center for Public Integrity.
